Well, I didn't manage to get Rocky out today after all. I spent the morning inside doing laundry, so I didn't make it out to the barn until afternoon. The time was, therefore, spent mucking stalls. Despite my concern over the weather this winter, it was mighty nice not only to be able to do a proper mucking out (nothing frozen today!), but to use my manure spreader to do it. It's so much nicer to just fill up that and drive out to the hay field to distribute it, rather than doing the old back & forth to the pile with the wheelbarrow.
I took down the stockings, since Christmas is decidedly over, and knocked down some dust & cobwebs in the barn whilst I was at it. It's not perfect, but it's pretty damn clean for January. I was thinking that I'd like to try to get a cleaning & project party going in the barn this spring/summer. Get a few people out and get some stuff done, like the siding in the tackroom, and lift some stall mats to fill in the potholes underneath them, stuff like that. Not sure how many people I could convince to come help, but it sure would be nice.
